How it works — and what it does not do
Cover mode crops the source image to the target aspect ratio, centred, then scales it to the target size. Fit mode scales the whole image to fit inside the target size and fills the rest with white (JPEG/WebP have no transparency; PNG keeps transparency only when the source has it and Fit is not filling with white — for PNG Fit, the fill is transparent). Quality only affects JPEG, WebP and AVIF; PNG is always lossless. AVIF is often smaller for photos, but not always — for simple graphics JPEG or WebP can be smaller, so compare the processed size shown. Nothing is uploaded, no account, no cookies, no tracking. Very large images can be slow or fail on low-memory devices — try a smaller size first.
